Challenges
Recording of 500 signal samples over 36 hours to a non-volatile medium with limited size and weight (2.5g including batteries)
Existing prototypes couldn’t meet the recording time and failed the guaranteed operating conditions of the components with the operating current of electronics (while not sleeping) exceeding the peak current of batteries.
Small budget for development and production.
Due to the exclusive use of special individual solutions being used, there was virtually no knowledge or market information regarding the detailed features of such a device.
Solution
Careful system design allows the operation of all components within the specified limits.
Use of high-performance NAND flash memory for storage with modified bad block handling.
Special high-performance capacitors used to smooth the current spikes are drawn from the batteries.
Due to the limited budget and the relatively small numbers (about 100 units) were used SMD standard technologies for the miniaturization.
